Saturday 16 January 2010
Once again, the ever popular Par event drew a strong field at the Loxton Golf Club on Saturday. This difficult form of the game always tests players by throwing out the challenge to play to their handicap on every hole. Although the temperature was perfect the wind added to the challenge, with most players failing to match their handicaps
Peter Steele, one of the Club’s most consistent golfers, won the event with plus one, but only on a cutback from another A Grader, Brett Proud. Fred Orwell had a welcome return to form to come in third with a credible minus one. He edged out Gawler visitor, Steve Coombs and Malcolm Loxton, also on a count back.
On Wednesday, Mark Evans was a comfortable winner, being the only player able to break his handicap. His thirty eight points was well ahead of his nearest rivals, Malcolm Loxton and David Sunman, who each scored thirty five points.
